Traffic inspector guiding drivers in Shimla

Shimla- The State Government has introduced a new online system to make obtaining learner's licenses easier and more convenient for its citizens.

Now applicants can now apply for their learner's licenses from any location without the need for physical verification. The online process utilizes Aadhaar-based authentication and allows individuals to submit their applications, upload required documents, and make fee payments online.

The aim is to save time and reduce the burden on Regional Transport Offices (RTO) and Licensing Authorities (RLA) by streamlining the application procedure.

The online system has been piloted in Dharamshala and is now operational in all districts.

Although the learner's license test still requires a physical visit to the RLA, the State Government has implemented an AI-based face authentication process to ensure the authenticity of test takers.

By comparing the applicant's face with the image on their Aadhaar records, the system enhances security and efficiency.

This initiative reflects the State Government's commitment to providing hassle-free services to its citizens.
