SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh police claim that they have adopted a Zero tolerance policy against drug abuse and trafficking and its Anti-Narcotics Task Force has seized 744 Gms Heroine/Chitta in this year till 30.04.2023.
According to the HP Police, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force caught cases of major seizure of 275.6 gm Heroin in district Nurpur, 148 gm Heroin in district Bilaspur, 63.58 gm Heroin in district Una and 4.004 and 2.728 kg charas in district Kullu.
As a result of campaign, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force has registered 39 cases under NDPS ACT till 30.04.2023 this year. In all the force has seized 10.420 kg Charas, 744 gm Heroin/Chitta, 740 gm Opium, 13.442 kg Poppy Husk and 3715 Opium plants.
The total value of the seized drugs is approximately Rs 53 lakh.
In the year 2022, the force has lodged 111 cases under the NDPS Act. In which 50.635 kg Charas, 482.37 gm Heroin/Chitta, 2.46 gm MDMA, 13.37 gm Cocaine, 137.254 kg Ganja, 11.468 kg Poppy Husk, 324 Opium plants and 278 Cannabis plants were seized.
The total value of the seized drugs is approximately Rs 1 crore 23 lakh.
The general public is being made aware of the ill effects of drugs through an awareness campaign by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, said the police officials.
At present, a campaign-Pradhav- has been launched across the state. “We are taking suggestions are being taken from School/College students to deal with the problem of drug addiction”.
The top 3 proposals shall be rewarded with cash prizes. Apart from this, Drug Free Himachal App and Toll Free Helpline No. 1908 are being used by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force.
The main objective of this helpline and application is to encourage general public to share information on drug traffickers and peddlers without revealing their identity.
