SHIMLA- Himachal Pradesh Pollution regulator has sought  state-wide participation of students  for  “Enviro-Ideation Hackathon 2023, a “Waste to Wonder” solutions to environmental problems to commemorate the World Environment Day.  

This event aims to engage undergraduate and above students from Himachal Pradesh in finding innovative solutions to address critical environmental challenges such as solid waste, plastic waste, e-waste, and C&D waste, says Anil Joshi, member secretary, HP Pollution Control Board.

Hackathon 2023 offers a unique platform for young minds to brainstorm, collaborate, and unleash their creativity to solve some of the most pressing environmental issues of our time.

“We believe that the power of ideation and technological advancements can pave the way towards a more sustainable future”.

Participants will have the opportunity to work in teams and develop ground-breaking solutions that will contribute to the preservation and conservation of our environment.

The hackathon will run for a duration of three weeks, starting from registration & submission from 15^th May 2023 (9,00AM) to grand finale on 5^th June 2023. Our field offices (Regional Offices and Laboratories) shall guide the participants throughout their ideation process. The participation team shall have a maximum of 3 members.

“The first-place team will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 75,000/-, the second-place team will receive Rs. 50,000/-, and the third-place team will be granted Rs. 25,000/”.

Further teams placed at 4^th 5^th and 6^th shall receive cash prize @Rs. 10,000/- each and teams placed at 7^th, 8^th, 9^th and 10^th shall also receive cash prize @Rs. 5,000/- each.

“We have designed and operationalized a web-portal namely https://hppcbhackathon.in/ to facilitate the registration and idea submission for the students”, Joshi said.

Opening of Registration 15^th May, 2023 (9.00 AM).

1. Last date of registration and submission of Ideas/Solutions on the theme “Waste to Wonder” - 25^th May, 2023 (5.00PM).
2. Screening of entries & announcement of shortlisted ideas - 27^th May, 2023 by 05 PM.
3. Date of 1^st stage “Enviro Hackathon” - 30^th May, 2023
4. Declaration of results for 1^st stage, “Enviro Ideation Hackathon” - 1^st June, 2023 by 05 PM.
5. Presentation of shortlisted solutions ideas for Grand Finale of “Enviro Hackathon” 05^th June, 2023.
6. Declaration of Winner of “Enviro Hackathon” along with prize distribution - 5^th June, 2023.
