Mandi Police Crack Down on Narcotics and Illegal Liquor in Separate Operations. 

MANDI: Waking up from their  hibernation Mandi police intensified their crackdown on narcotics and illegal liquor, registering four cases under the ND&PS Act and the one case under  HP Excise Act.

Heroin and Charas Seized in Four ND&PS Cases

In a major haul, the police recovered 13.2 grams of heroin (chitta) and 351 grams of charas in four separate cases across the district and nabbed five accused. 

1. Heroin Seized in Lower Bijni

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) intercepted Shivam, son of Brijlal from Ramnagar, Mandi, during a blockade near Lower Bijni. Shivam was traveling in an HRTC bus when 13.2 grams of heroin was recovered.

A case has been registered at Police Station Sadar Mandi, and the accused has been remanded to police custody till January 11, 2025.

2. 211 Grams of Charas Found in Jachchh Bazar

Murari Lal, son of Devi Das, a resident of Jachchh in Chachiot Tehsil, was nabbed with 211 grams of charas in Jachchh Bazar under the jurisdiction of Police Station Gohar.

The accused was presented in court and has been remanded to two days of police custody.

3. Charas Seized in Kamand

Two separate cases were registered under Police Station Padhar, where a blockade at Kamand led to the seizure of 90 grams of charas from Harish, son of Rajesh Kumar, and Bhede Ram, son of Dhari, both residents of Mandi district.

4. 50 Grams of Charas Found in a Vehicle

Another checkpoint under Police Station Padhar resulted in the recovery of 50 grams of charas from Ritesh Kumar, son of Sher Singh, who was traveling in a vehicle (HP22D-9245).

All cases have been registered under the ND&PS Act, and investigations are ongoing.

Illegal Liquor Seized Under HP Excise Act

In another series of operations, Mandi police seized 15,600 ml of foreign liquor and 15,000 ml of country-made liquor across four cases under the HP Excise Act.

The seizures were made in separate police station jurisdictions, and cases have been registered accordingly. Investigations are underway, confirmed Mandi SP.
