HPGuvPaysTributes to MahatmaGandhi in Shimla

SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh joined the rest of the nation in paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries today.

 Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla led the state in honoring these two great leaders at the historic Ridge in Shimla, where he offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, praising his lifelong dedication to truth, peace, and non-violence.

“Gandhi Ji gave the world the message of peace and non-violence. Today, the Prime Minister is following in his footsteps by engaging in dialogue with war-torn nations, particularly in South Asia, to spread peace globally,” said Governor Shukla.

The Governor emphasized Mahatma Gandhi's legacy, highlighting his commitment to truth and harmony, deeply rooted in Indian traditions and customs.

Reflecting on Gandhi’s principles of Swadeshi, Swaraj, and self-reliance, the Governor remarked that Gandhi's teachings continue to inspire all generations.

During the event, Governor Shukla also visited a photo exhibition showcasing the life of Mahatma Gandhi.

Later, he paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at CTO Chowk, praising Shastri for his slogan "Jai Jawaan, Jai Kisan" and his efforts in guiding the nation towards self-reliance.

“Shastri Ji’s integrity, humility, and simplicity will always be a source of inspiration for the people of India,” said the Governor, urging future generations to study the lives of these great leaders and the messages they gave to the world.

The program featured patriotic songs and bhajans performed to honor the occasion.

State Congress President Pratibha Singh, CPS Mohan Lal Brakta, MLA Harish Janartha, MLA Capt. Ranjeet Singh Rana, Mayor Surender Chauhan, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, DC  Shimla Anupam Kashyap, SP,  Sanjeev Gandhi, and Commissioner Bhupender Kumar Attri, were in attendance, along with councilors and prominent local figures.

After the event, the Governor visited the Indian Coffee House, where he enjoyed coffee with the officials.
