Shimla: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated four Garbage Compactors for the Shimla Municipal Corporation at Chaura Maidan.
These compactors, acquired under the Shimla Smart City Limited project with an investment of Rs 1.40 Crores, have a substantial capacity of 14 Cubic Meters each, enabling them to transport 11-12 tonnes of waste to the processing plant at Bhariyal, Shimla's outskirts, in a single trip.
Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the importance of cleanliness, aligning with Mahatma Gandhi's vision.
He reaffirmed the government's commitment to realizing Gandhi's dream of a cleaner, more sustainable future for Shimla.
Sukhu highlighted Shimla's status as a primary tourist destination and the government's efforts to attract more visitors by improving infrastructure and amenities.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur, other officials, and dignitaries were also present at the inauguration.
These Garbage Compactors are set to play a crucial role in achieving Shimla's goals for a cleaner and more environmentally friendly future.
