SJVN Signs MoUs for 8100 MW Pumped Storage and 505 MW Floating Solar Projects in Maharashtra
Shimla, 26 September: SJVN, a Navratna CPSE, has signed MoUs with the Maharashtra government to develop 8100 MW Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs) and 505 MW Floating Solar Projects (FSPs).
The agreements were signed in Mumbai in the presence of Maharashtra Deputy CM and Energy Minister, Devendra Fadnavis.
The first MoU with the Water Resources Department of Maharashtra covers five PSPs totaling 8100 MW. SJVN CMD Sushil Sharma and Additional Chief Secretary Deepak Kapoor (IAS) signed the deal.
The second MoU with MAHAGENCO focuses on developing a 505 MW Floating Solar Project at Lower Wardha Dam. Sushil Sharma and MAHAGENCO CMD Dr. P. Anbalagan (IAS) signed this agreement.
Fadnavis praised the collaboration and assured full government support for timely project execution, highlighting these MoUs as a new chapter in Maharashtra’s energy journey.
The 505 MW Floating Solar Project will be built in two phases—100 MW first, followed by 405 MW—ensuring optimal use of existing infrastructure.
The 8100 MW PSPs include Kolmondapada (800 MW), Sidgarh (1500 MW), Chornai (2000 MW), Baitarni (1800 MW), and Jalvara (2000 MW), vital for energy storage and grid stability.
The projects, with an investment of ₹48,000 crores, will create 8,400 jobs and boost eco-tourism and skill development in local communities.
