Tibetan Parliament Condemns Chinese Oppression...
DHARAMSHALA: AS it has been doing over years, The Tibetan Parliament in Exile has passed a new resolution. It strongly opposes China’s oppressive actions against Tibetans. The focus is on protecting their rights, religion, and culture.
Honoring Tibetan Sacrifices
The session began by remembering those who died for Tibet's freedom. It praised the bravery of people resisting China’s control. The resolution also condemned human rights abuses like illegal killings and unjust detentions.
Demand for Prisoners’ Release
The Parliament demanded the release of Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, the 11th Panchen Lama. He has been missing since 1995. All other Tibetan political prisoners must also be freed immediately.
Fight Against Cultural Genocide
China’s efforts to erase Tibetan culture came under fire. Residential schools separating children from their families were criticized. These actions were called cultural genocide. The resolution demanded an end to such policies.
Tibet’s Independence Stressed
The Parliament rejected China’s claim over Tibet. It reaffirmed Tibet’s status as a separate nation historically. A peaceful solution was called for through dialogue. However, it warned of future consequences if China avoids talks.
Thanks to Global Supporters
The resolution thanked India, the U.S., and other nations for their support. Tibetans in exile were urged to keep raising awareness about their struggle.
This resolution stands as a strong message against China’s policies. It reaffirms Tibet’s fight for freedom and cultural survival.
