Shimla: Former Deputy Mayor Tikender Singh Panwar has filed a formal complaint with Shimla's Senior Superintendent of Police, Sanjeev Gandhi, demanding immediate action against those responsible for endangering the Ridge's structural integrity.
The complaint is backed by video evidence showing heavy vehicles, including two trucks and a crane, being operated on the fragile Ridge Tank area—a zone where vehicular movement is strictly prohibited.
In his letter to the SP, Panwar highlighted the grave risks posed to public safety and the Ridge’s vulnerability, emphasizing that such activities blatantly violate existing regulations.
He has sought FIRs against the vehicle owners, the police officials who permitted the movement, and the district administration officials who allowed the Ridge to be misused for social events, despite clear High Court directives against such functions.
"If no action is taken promptly, I will be forced to approach the Hon'ble High Court of Himachal Pradesh, whose orders against such activities are being flouted with contempt," warned Panwar.
He stressed the urgency of safeguarding the Ridge, a vital heritage and public safety asset of Shimla, from further damage.
