Mandi Crime Round-Up: Tragic Family Feud...
Mandi: In a tragic heat of moment, a family feud in the village of Mairamsit in the Balh area led to the death of a 49-year-old man last night.
The incident occurred around 7:30 pm on 15.07.2024, when Lekh Ram was at his ration and vegetable shop with his 19-year-old son.
His elder brother, Jagdish Kumar, arrived at the shop intoxicated and began causing a disturbance, throwing items from the shop onto the road.
When Lekh Ram protested, Jagdish assaulted him, throwing him to the ground and hitting him with an empty vegetable crate.
A bystander, Bhishm Dev, who tried to intervene, was also injured after Jagdish hit him on the head with a stone, revealed the police.
Lekh Ram was rushed to Nerchowk Medical College Hospital but unfortunately died during treatment.
SP Mandi confirmed, "The crime scene has been thoroughly inspected by the RFSL team.
The accused has been arrested and presented in court, where he has been remanded to three-day police custody until 18.07.2024."
Earlier that same day, around 3:55 am, Mandi police seized 168 boxes of illegal orange country liquor from a Mazda tempo near Mandi's Gurudwara.
The seizure included 2016 bottles, totaling 15.12 lakh ml of liquor. The tempo was being driven by Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Lakhanpur, Bilaspur.
Initial investigations revealed that the liquor was being transported from Hamirpur to Kullu.
"An FIR has been registered, and both the liquor and the vehicle have been seized. The investigation is ongoing," said SP Mandi.
In Both incidents police has assured of a thorough investigation into each case.
