Shimla, April 7 — In a sharp twist to the escalating Vimal Negi death case, the Himachal Pradesh High Court today granted interim anticipatory bail to IAS officer Harikesh Meena. Meena, who was MD of the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation (HPPCL) during the alleged harassment of Negi, had moved court fearing arrest. The next hearing is set for April 9.
The High Court has directed Meena to cooperate fully with the ongoing probe.
But the story is far from cooling down.
In a significant move, Vimal Negi’s family has demanded that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) disclose every shred of evidence collected — especially the contents of a crucial diary found in Negi’s office, which they believe could unlock key details about the pressure he was allegedly under.

The developments come just weeks after Negi’s body was recovered from Govind Sagar Lake in Bilaspur on March 18, triggering outrage.
His family has accused top HPPCL brass, including Meena, of relentless harassment leading to his death.
With the next court date looming and political stakes soaring, the case is poised to explode further.
