Residents Honour HPU VC Dr Mahavir Singh at Community Function
Shimla – Locals from Panjari and Tutikandi turned up in large numbers at Aangan Hotel to honour Dr Mahavir Singh, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University.
The evening was filled with pride and applause as the community celebrated one of their own rising to the top academic post in the state.
Dr Mahavir Singh, a globally acclaimed nanotech researcher and former physics professor at HPU, recently made it to Stanford University’s list of top 2% scientists in Applied Physics and Material Science.
He now becomes the 28th Vice Chancellor of HPU, stepping in after a two-year leadership void.
Speaking at the event, Dr N.S. Bisht, retired Professor of Economics, HPU, said:
"Dr Mahavir Singh brings both academic brilliance and administrative vision.
His appointment is not just a proud moment for the university, but for the entire academic community of Himachal.
We expect a much-needed transformation under his leadership."
