Police found that the lamb was sacrificed not in temple premises but in a publuc place near Rohru.

The FIR was registered under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and relevant sections of the Himachal Pradesh Animal Sacrifice Prohibition Act, following complaints from local activists and animal rights group.

The complainants allege that the sacrifice violated court directives and involved unnecessary cruelty.

Shimla police confirmed the FIR and stated that they are investigating the incident.

Activists from organizations like PFA (People for Animals) have lauded the prompt action, urging authorities to ensure compliance with the law to protect animal rights.

Local villagers, however, defend the religious  practices citing centuries-old traditions deeply tied to their religious and cultural beliefs. They argue that  offerings in some cases like Kullu Dussehra are an essential part of their rituals and are not conducted with malicious intent.

The controversy highlights the ongoing challenge of enforcing animal protection laws in regions where cultural customs intersect with legal restrictions.

The police have called for cooperation from local leaders to promote alternative rituals that uphold both tradition and modern ethical standards.
