Wangchuk in Balh Valley in Mandi

Nerchowk, Mandi : Ladakhi environmentalist and innovator Sonam Wangchuk's climate march, which started from Leh, entered the Balh Valley in Mandi today.

The march, headed towards Delhi, aims to raise awareness about the urgent need to protect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.

The Balh Bachao Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, Vyapar Mandal, Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Kisan Sabha, Four-Lane Sangharsh Samiti, and other social groups gave Wangchuk and the padyatris a warm welcome.

Wangchuk emphasized that the march seeks to bring the message of Himalayan conservation to the citizens of India and the government, urging them to take immediate action.

Prem Chaudhary, president of the Balh Bachao Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, stressed the importance of preserving fertile lands, mountains, forests, and the environment to shield humanity from the devastating effects of climate change.

"If the glaciers melt, there will be no one to save us from water shortages. It’s up to us to protect them," Chaudhary said.

Also present were Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee president Sardara Singh, Rajeev Uppal, Vyapar Mandal’s Govind Thakur, Kaka, Parmjeet Sethi, Abhilash Mahajan, social activist Kishan Bushehri, Hukum Chand, and others from Kisan Sabha and local committees.
