CBI Unmasks DIG Bhullar’s Crore-Heavy Empire: ₹7.5 Cr Cash, 2.5 Kg Gold, 26 Luxury Watches Seized
Chandigarh, Oct 17:
The CBI has blown the lid off the “towering empire of corruption,” recovering a staggering ₹7.5 crore in cash, 2.5 kg of gold, 26 luxury watches — including Rolex and Rado — and property papers linked to over 50 assets from the residence of Punjab Police DIG Bhullar.
The officer, who was earlier caught red-handed allegedly demanding and accepting bribe money through his associate to “settle” an FIR against a businessman, now faces a massive corruption probe that has sent shockwaves through Punjab’s police establishment.
During sweeping searches across Chandigarh and Punjab, the CBI teams unearthed not just cash and gold, but also evidence of a lavish lifestyle — firearms, 100 live cartridges, luxury liquor collection, and documents hinting at a maze of benami properties.
Here’s what the CBI found:
₹7.5 crore cash neatly stashed at his Chandigarh residence.
2.5 kg of gold jewellery.
26 branded watches including Rolex and Rado.
Papers for over 50 properties allegedly in the names of relatives and benami entities.
Locker keys, bank account details, and four firearms.
At his Samrala farmhouse: 108 liquor bottles, ₹5.7 lakh cash, 17 cartridges.
At the middleman’s residence: ₹21 lakh cash and incriminating documents.
According to CBI officials, the scale of assets discovered is “inconsistent with known sources of income” and points to a deep-rooted network of illegal gains and influence.
Both DIG Bhullar and his associate were produced before the CBI Court in Chandigarh on Thursday and have been remanded to 14-day judicial custody.
The investigation now focuses on tracing the money trail, suspected shell holdings, and links between Bhullar’s alleged extortion racket and influential circles in Punjab.
