Shimla: The recent Rs. 10 hike in cement prices across Himachal Pradesh, driven by the Adani Group’s control over  cement companies like Bharmana Cement and Ambuja, is causing a ripple of concern among builders and homeowners alike.

This sudden increase is set to push up construction costs, impacting not just ongoing projects but also new home constructions across the state.

Real estate developers and individual builders are worried about the added financial burden, with many voicing frustration over the timing of this price hike.

“It's already tough managing construction costs, and now this hike is going to hit us hard. Projects will definitely see delays, and budgets will go haywire,” said a local contractor, reflecting the widespread discontent within the industry.

The Adani Group's dominance in the state's cement sector has left little room for negotiation, forcing builders to absorb the additional costs or pass them on to consumers.

Either way, the mood in the construction and real estate sectors is one of frustration and anxiety as they brace for the fallout of this price surge.
