BHARMOUR:

The search for two youth who went missing in the forest area of Bharmour subdivision entered a critical phase on Sunday as drone surveillance failed to yield any breakthrough.

Despite extensive aerial scanning, no trace of the missing youths could be located, forcing the administration to escalate rescue efforts.

Bharmour MLA Dr Janak Raj said that the next phase of the operation would involve the use of an Army helicopter. “If weather conditions permit, the first helicopter sortie is likely to take off by around 4.30 pm,” he said.

However, growing concern looms over the rescue operation as weather conditions in the high-altitude region are rapidly deteriorating. A fresh western disturbance is triggering renewed snowfall in the area, which could further hamper aerial operations and ground searches.

Rescue teams, including local volunteers and mountaineers, remain on standby, closely monitoring the weather window, as authorities race against time to trace the missing youths amid harsh terrain and worsening climatic conditions.
