The attack, which targeted laborers working on the under-construction traffic tunnel in Sonmarg, left five  workers including a doctor dead and others gravely injured, spreading fear and shock across the valley.

This is the first terrorist attack on innocent labourers after the National Conference government of Omar Abdullah, son of Dr Abdullah  took over in the Jammu and Kashmir UT.

Speaking fiercely on the issue, Abdullah, who is NC Supremo  said, "This is unacceptable. Pakistan has been trying for 75 years to create turmoil and disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir, but they have failed every single time. They’ve not succeeded in creating a Pakistan here, and they will never succeed."

Dr. Abdullah emphasized that if Pakistan genuinely wishes to establish cordial relations with India, the first step must be to put an end to terrorist activities that consistently claim innocent lives.

"Pakistan needs to decide. They want peace or chaos? If they want cordial ties, these acts of terror must stop. If not, they will face the consequences."

The attack took place at a time when laborers, mostly migrant workers, were busy constructing the vital tunnel in Sonmarg—a crucial part of Kashmir's infrastructure development.

This brutal assault has not only cost the lives of hardworking laborers but also dealt a blow to local development efforts, triggering widespread outrage.

Dr. Abdullah called for a strong retaliatory response from India, urging the government to take concrete steps against Pakistan’s continuous provocations.

"India must respond, and it must respond firmly. We cannot tolerate these repeated acts of terror on our soil anymore. The time for strong action is now."

The deadly attack has once again brought the spotlight back on Pakistan’s role in harboring terrorism and its repeated attempts to destabilize Kashmir.

The local population, already weary from decades of violence, has been left reeling, with families of the victims devastated by the senseless loss of lives.
