Shimla, November 24 — The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday rolled out a relief-driven and employment-centric package, raising compensation for disaster-hit households from ₹70,000 to ₹1 lakh and approving ₹7 lakh for complete house damage in fire incidents.
The government sanctioned ₹4.32 crore to the Air Force for helicopter rescue services and cleared 150 days of MNREGA employment with permission for individual retaining walls up to ₹2 lakh.
Recruitments across key sectors dominated the meeting — 1000 Rogi Mitras for hospitals, 800 constables for the Police Department, 150 JE (Civil) trainees in Jal Shakti and PWD, and specialist faculty posts for medical colleges in Hamirpur and Tanda.
The Cabinet also cleared a new Police Post at Ner Chowk, Sub Fire Centres at Kandaghat and Rajgarh, and ten electric bikes for highway patrolling.
In a major welfare reform, all persons with 40% and above disability are now eligible for pension irrespective of guardian’s employment or pension status.
A 40% subsidy for conversion of 1000 taxis into electric taxis under the Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start-Up Yojna was approved, along with the merger of Anti-Narcotics Task Force with the STF and a panchayat-wise Anti-Chitta campaign to curb drug abuse.
Educational approvals included conversion of Government College Hamirpur into a dedicated Science College, integrated B.Ed programmes at four institutions, B.P.Ed programme at Saraswati Nagar, and a new Fine Arts College at Haripur Guler. The Cabinet also allowed DPC for promoting 805 Principals.
Additional decisions covered reorganisation of panchayats, a new Kanungo circle at Bankhandi, and expansion of the Mukhya Mantri Laghu Dukandar Kalyan Yojna to provide up to ₹1 lakh loan settlement assistance to distressed urban shopkeepers with turnover below ₹10 lakh.
