Shimla, October 27, 2026

Himachal Pradesh Police is observing Vigilance Awareness Week from October 26 to November 1 under the theme “Probity for Prosperity”, with statewide pledge ceremonies and public outreach programmes to promote integrity, transparency and zero tolerance for corruption.

DGP Ashok Tewari administered the vigilance pledge to officers, police personnel and ministerial staff at Police Headquarters and Vigilance Headquarters. Similar programmes were organised across the state.

Tewari called for fair policing, preventive vigilance and accountability, warning that corruption extends beyond accepting bribes to favouritism, manipulation of investigations and overlooking misconduct. He directed supervisory officers to strengthen inspections, scrutinise investigations, act promptly on complaints and use digital records to improve transparency.

Emphasising fair treatment of citizens and subordinates, he said honest mistakes must be distinguished from deliberate misconduct. Delays in registering FIRs, neglecting investigations and leaving complaints unresolved without justification also undermine public duty.

“The true test of leadership is not how comfortably subordinates agree with their seniors, but how safely they can disagree with them,” he observed, urging officers to ensure that justice does not depend on influence or connections.

The police will continue awareness campaigns and public outreach activities across Himachal Pradesh until November 1.
