Highlighting the severity of the issue, the Governor noted that a significant proportion of prisoners in Himachal Pradesh were punished for drug offenses.
The campaign aims to combat the menace of drugs, particularly in vulnerable border districts like Una.
The Governor also launched a helpline number and released a poster as part of the anti-drug campaign.
Agnihotri stressed the importance of raising awareness and proposed amendments to drug laws, including non-bailable offenses and the confiscation of assets from individuals involved in illegal drug trade.
The Deputy Chief Minister called for public support and a united front against drug peddlers.
The campaign, named 'Pradhav', seeks to tackle the growing drug problem and create a safer future for the youth.
On the occasion, Acting Director General of Police, Satwant Atwal Trivedi said that in terms of population, Himachal has come second after Punjab in the prevalence of drugs, which was a matter of concern.
She said that keeping this seriousness in mind, the State Police has started a campaign named 'Pradhav'.
Under this, online discussions were held with around 16000 students from 160 schools, she said.
