Lahaul-Spiti grapples with a power outage following the season's  snowfall, severely impacting daily life.

HP state electricity board ltd has blamed it on BRO, saying they run two substations both sides of Atal Tunnel,  but it has not deputed the staff at North Portal in Lahaul to check the power outage or snags from time to time.

But residents said power outage is caused by tripping due to the fault in the transmission system being manned by HPSEBL.

BRO, however said the HPSEBL should resolve it by improving the transmission system rather than blaming it on substation.

The blackout is attributed to operational challenges at the North Portal as the BRO contractor has not placed staff at  North Portal.

The responsibility for addressing this issue falls under the jurisdiction of the Border Roads Organization (BRO), which has outsourced the task to a private company, claimed HPSEBL.

The BRO Chief Engineer should provide insights into potential solutions for this pressing issue.

As the blackout persists, the adverse effects on daily life are palpable, as the mercury has hit its freezing low that has made life harsher for locals, demanding immediate solution to to power supply disruption.

Local residents demand that the BRO and HPSEBL should not engage in the blame game and should team up and should restore power supply in the snowbound region.
