Organized by the Traffic, Tourist, and Railway (TTR) unit, Shimla, the program was initiated under DGP Dr. Atul Verma, IPS.
"We're committed to ensuring tourists feel safe and supported," said DIG Gurudev Charan Sharma, who inaugurated the training on October 3.
The officers were briefed on the latest challenges in managing the growing tourist influx in Himachal.
Faculty members, including Dr. Priti Kawar Nagpal from HPU, Dr. Mukul Dhimari from IHM Kufri, and Hotel Association President Mahendra Singh Seth, provided insights on tourist behavior and expectations.
Dr. Priti Kawar Nagpal, Assistant Professor at HPU stressed the importance of understanding tourist psychology during the training.
"Tourists come with diverse expectations, and it's crucial for officers to grasp their behavior patterns to provide better assistance", she said.
A positive interaction with the police can make or break their experience in the state, she remarked during her session.
"It’s vital that officers understand what tourists need and how to assist them," added Seth.
DIG Sharma emphasized the importance of tourist-friendly policing.
"Trained officers can enhance the experience for visitors while maintaining law and order," he said, adding that the program tackled safety protocols and legal guidelines.
The event wrapped up today with 25 officers receiving certificates.
"Tourism is vital for the state, and our officers now have the tools to ensure visitors have a smooth experience," said Additional SP Narvir Singh Rathour, the program coordinator.
