These five towns are  Manali, Bilaspur, Palampur, Nahan, and Karsog.

Under the agreement, the French agency will contribute Rs. 612 crore, while the state will chip in with Rs. 204.85 crore.

The project aims to upgrade sewerage facilities and drinking water supply in Manali and Palampur, using advanced technology to treat wastewater for reuse in agriculture and industry.

The objectives are clear: cleaner water sources, fewer water-related diseases, and compliance with sanitation standards. The project also aims to bring financial stability to the water and sanitation sector.

The implementation will happen in two phases over three years. In the first phase, AFD will provide Rs. 340 crore out of a total cost of Rs. 425.85 crore. The second phase will follow after 18 months, with AFD contributing Rs. 272 crore out of Rs. 371 crore.

This project will make a big difference in the lives of people in these five towns, providing improved sanitation and access to safe drinking water. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development.
