Governor Rajendra Vishvanath Arlekar and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur welcomed the Prime Minister on his arrival at Sports Authority of India (SAI) ground.

Modi attended a roadshow in which he was spotted showering flowers on the party workers and citizens who stood on the  rally route greeting Prime Minister.

Prime Minister travelled in an open jeep  with Jai Ram Thakur and BJP state president Suresh Kashyap under strict black commandoes’ surveillance while making a beeline for the HPCA stadium to chair  the two days long  first national conference of the Chief Secretaries of the states.  

Prime Minister office said that the conference would strengthen the Centre-state relations and promote good governance in the country.  

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, Speaker H.P. Vidhan Sabha Vipin Singh Parmar, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Chaudhary, Industries Minister Bikram Singh, MP and State BJP President Suresh Kashyap, MP Kishan Kapoor, Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh, Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu and Mayor Municipal Corporation Dharamshala Onkar Nehria were also present.

Meanwhile, before Prime Minister reached Dharamshala, the youth seeking army recruitment, staged protest against the Agnipath scheme launched by the Central government yesterday, joining other protests by youth in Haryana, Bihar and other places.

The police resorted to lathcharge to disperse the protesting youth, who raised slogans against the government demanding a roll back.

The youth in Kangra joined Indian armed forces in large number every year, but they did not get opportunities for the last two years as no recutiment took place due to Covid pandemic.

The youth said that the Central government was recruitment Agniveers on contract basis, without giving them job security.  The local Congress youth leaders also joined  the anti-Agnipath protest.
