Shimla:  The Rs 1600 crore Shimla Ropeway project that aims at easing traffic congestion and promoting green transport gets a slow start  here.

Shimla Ropeway project authorities, with an investment of 1600 crores, held a  review meeting at its office today.

The initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion and provide a modern transportation facility for Shimla's residents.

The ropeway will feature 13 boarding and deboarding stations, strategically placed to ensure convenience and accessibility for passengers across the city.

During the meeting here  chaired by PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh,  and  attended by the  Mayor Surinder  Chauhan and the MLA of Shimla Harish Janartha, the importance of this project for the city's future was underscored.

Vikramaditya Singh said, "Our government is committed to steering Shimla towards sustainable, green transport.

This ropeway is a vital step in that direction, contributing not only to development but also to environmental conservation."

He further affirmed, "We will not let any shortage hinder the development of Himachal. One Himachal, the best Himachal."

Singh did not specify a completion deadline for the project, but the focus remains on ensuring timely and efficient progress.

The project is anticipated to play a crucial role in reducing traffic jams, providing a much-needed boost to the city's infrastructure and quality of life.
