Shimla, June 10:
Continuing its commitment to fight hunger and support those in need, Lions Club Shimla (District 321A2) organized a food distribution drive at Kamla Nehru Hospital on Monday.
As part of its ongoing "Food for Hunger" initiative, the club served nutritious meals to around 500 people, including patients, their attendants, and members of the general public.
The community service began at 12:30 PM and aimed to provide not just food but also comfort and dignity to those facing tough times. Club President Lion Man Mohan Verma said the initiative reflects the Lions Club International's mission to address hunger, tackle poverty, and ensure access to healthy meals for all.
“By offering nourishment, support and hope, we aim to empower individuals to face adversity with strength,” he said.
The food distribution was led by Project Chairperson Lion O.P. Mehta, alongside other active members including Lion D.K. Chauhan (Director), Lion M.K. Sharma (Secretary), Lion Kapil Sood, Lion P.S. Panwar, and Lion Daleep Kumar. Club members enthusiastically participated in personally serving meals, underlining their hands-on approach to community welfare.
Earlier, similar langar services were held at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) and Kamla Nehru Hospital (KNH) under the same project banner.
