Shimla, July 1: In a grand show of strength and unity at Peterhoff,  here today, the BJP on Monday formally elected Dr Rajeev Bindal as the new Himachal Pradesh BJP President in the presence central observer,   Union Minister Jitender Sing and the state BJP Incharge Srikant Sharma and BJP MPs, Harsh Mahajan, Rajeev Bhardwaj and Suresh Kashyap while Kangana Ranuat was conspicuous by her absence.

The party  Sangathan Parva-2025  wasn’t just a routine coronation—it was a power-packed message that BJP’s central high command, especially JP Nadda, still holds unchallenged sway over the hill state as far as BJP is concerned.

Alongside Bindal’s appointment, the BJP also named key members to the National Council (Rashtriya Parishad), most of them known loyalists of party’s national president and Union Health Minister JP Nadda.

The names include former minister Gobind Singh Thakur from Kullu, Pawan  Kajal from Kangra, Bihari Lal Sharma, Dr Sanjiv Katwal, veteran Trilok Kapoor, Smt Rashmi Dhar Sood from Solan and Smt Payal from Mandi. Gobind Thakur and Payal are also considered Jai Ram Thakur's supporters as well.

The selections send a clear message—Nadda, backed firmly by the Modi-Shah duo, has been handed over the reins to shape and steer the Himachal BJP without interference.

But Bindal himself cannot do much. He is widely seen as Nadda’s man Friday, and the real decisions—who gets what and when—will come directly from Nadda.

The RSS, which once played a strong backstage role in state politics, now goes by its central command under Dr Mohan Bhagwat and has little independent say in Himachal affairs.

With former CM Prof Prem Kumar Dhumal gracefully retired and his son Anurag Thakur sidelined after being dropped from PM Modi’s cabinet, there is no credible challenger left in the state unit.

Even Leader of Opposition and former CM Jai Ram Thakur, who once had his own power centre, has been fully aligned with Nadda, singing praises and working in tandem.

Now, all eyes are on how Bindal, under Nadda’s watch, constitutes the new state BJP executive. The party rank and file are watching closely as he attempts to balance regional aspirations, caste equations, and internal factions—though all roads ultimately lead to JP Nadda’s court.

As of now, Nadda’s suzerainty in Himachal BJP remains absolute and unchallenged.
