with the Chhattisgarh Government & CSPGCL for the 1800 MW Kotpali Pumped Storage Project in Balrampur district.
The mega project, with a ₹9500 crore investment, will generate 3967 million units annually, bolstering grid stability and accelerating India's renewable energy push.
The MoU was signed in the presence of CM Vishnu Deo Sai, with Sushil Kumar Sharma (Director, Projects, SJVN), Subodh Kumar Singh (Principal Secretary, Energy, Chhattisgarh), and Sanjeev Kumar Katiyar (MD, CSPGCL) leading the charge.
With 5000+ job opportunities, the project is set to boost economic growth while ensuring reliable power supply.
As renewable energy surges, pumped storage projects (PSPs) like Kotpali are crucial for grid balancing—storing excess power from solar & wind for use during peak demand.
This move cements SJVN’s commitment to #NetZero, #RenewableEnergy, and #GreenGrowth, marking a major leap in India's clean energy transition.
