JANJEHLI(MANDI): Addressing a series of meetings, Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh lambasted the BJP for its internal strife and questionable candidate choices, while pledging significant development for the region.
"There's unrest within the BJP itself. Even party members are voicing their dissatisfaction," Singh declared.
"This reflects their internal chaos and the fire burning inside the BJP".
Questioning the leadership and party credentials of Kangana Ranaut, Singh said people are questioning the parachute candidacy from Mumbai when local leaders like Maheshwar Singh and Brigadier Kushal Thakur, Kargil war hero, were denied tickets.
The people of Mandi and the state want to know the secret behind this decision.
Singh criticized the BJP candidate's language and conduct, particularly her attacks on Congress leaders.
"We have contested elections and fought our political rivals, but never have we stooped to such a low level of discourse," he said.
"The remarks made about me, Rahul Gandhi, and our family reflect the BJP's values and education."
Addressing the socio-political landscape, Singh highlighted the detrimental impact of the BJP's rhetoric on Himachal's culture.
"The Dev Samaj in Mandi and Kullu expressed their disappointment over the BJP's language and actions. This attack on our Dev culture is unfortunate and shameful," he stated.
Even the former RSS pracharak is contesting as independent against Kangana and highlighting how she has brought "bad name for the Hindu samaj playing up her interviews on social media which have gone viral".
Singh outlined his development agenda, promising to enhance the region's infrastructure and tourism potential.
"We have plans for the conservation and construction of tunnels, a new medical college in Kullu, and transforming our tourism centers to international standards," he pledged. "I assure you, we will achieve these goals."
Reflecting on his family's political legacy and that of his father late Virbhadra Singh, the six-time CM , Singh emphasized his commitment to the people of Mandi.
"In my family, we've contested nine elections from Mandi, winning seven. Even in defeat, we have always stood by you," he said getting a applause in Seraj, home segment of former CM Jai Ram Thakur.
"This fight is not against any individual but to make Mandi the number one parliamentary constituency in the country."
He cited IIT Mandi, Nerchowk Medical College, Jawahar Lal Nehru Engineering college Sundernagar, SDM office Janjehli, Thachi government college as some of the big institutions given by Virbhadra Singh to Mandi district.
Singh also commended the current Congress administration's efforts in disaster relief and development. "Our Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has increased aid for disaster-affected families and ensured timely action during crises," he noted.
Singh appealed for voter support to continue his family's legacy of service and development.
"I promise to walk two steps forward for every step you take with us. With your support and blessings, we will advance the area together," he affirmed.
