CHOPAL(SHIMLA)- BJP leaders, state president Dr. Rajeev Bindal and leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Sukhu Government during a public meeting in here on Monday in the Shimla parliamentary constituency.
They highlighted achievements of the nine-year rule of the Modi government at the Centre and called for support in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
Addressing the meeting in Chopal Jai Ram Thakur said Prime Minister Narendra Modi imposed 50 per cent import duty on Chinese apples and previous BJP government made Himachal smooth.
Addressing the crowd, BJP State President Dr. Rajeev Bindal focused on accomplishments of the Modi government.
He praised initiatives such as infrastructure development, healthcare services, and the Ayushman Bharat program, which has provided healthcare coverage of up to Rs. 5 lakh to millions of individuals.
Dr. Bindal also commended Prime Minister Modi for his efforts in preserving and reviving Indian culture. The renaming of Rajpath and the emphasis on honoring national heroes like Subhash Chandra Bose, Vallabhbhai Patel, and Veer Savarkar are notable steps, he claimed.
Taking a critical stance against the Congress party and the Himachal Pradesh government, Dr. Bindal accused them of betraying the interests of various sections of society.
He specifically mentioned the alleged failure of the Congress government to fulfill its promise of providing monthly benefits for women in the state.
Dr. Bindal also criticized Congress leaders for their inadequate response to a heinous crime committed against a child from a Dalit family in Chamba district, highlighting their lack of responsibility in addressing the issue.
Dr. Bindal stated that the BJP is dedicated to rectifying these alleged shortcomings.
Chopal is the only assembly constituency in the Shimla district where BJP MLA Balbir Verma had won last election.
BJP had lost all eight other seats to Congress. BJP seeks to make its call from here for the Shimla Lok Sabah seat.
