SHIMLA/HAMIRPUR: The ruling Congress and the opposition BJP trade accusations ahead of elections, setting the stage for a contentious political showdown.
Addressing the party workers in Nadaun, his home segment today, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu accuseds BJP's Sudhir Sharma of leading Congress rebels, alleging he received over "Rs 15 crore in a bid to destabilize the government and sway power dynamics"- a charge that Sharma rebutted by filing a defamation suit against Sukhu.
Sukhu vowed to expose alleged corruption and disproportionate wealth accumulation among rebel MLAs and he promised transparency and accountability in governance.
He criticized Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, accusing him of seeking power through financial means, undermining the democratic process.
Sukhu emphasizes that Thakur's lust for power has grown exponentially, resorting to monetary influence due to a lack of public support.
Sukhu warns BJP of public backlash, condemning what he calls the betrayal of public trust, emphasizing the need for ethical leadership.
He highlights administrative manipulations by six rebel MLAs, denouncing their self-serving actions, and advocating for a politics driven by public welfare.
On the other hand, Sudhir Sharma retaliated, claiming defamation and stating evidence of corruption against Sukhu's government.
This has let loose a game of verbal sparring between the two parties and leaders.
Meanwhile, Sudhir Sharma and Ravi Thakur sought blessings from the Dalai Lama for their new innings in the BJP, hoping to garner moral support for their political endeavors.
