Sukhu’s Rohru-Rampur Tour Focuses on Rural Outreach Ahead of 2027
SHIMLA: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s three-day visit to Rohru and Rampur from October 1 to 3 combined project launches, welfare measures and direct interaction with residents, giving the government a chance to strengthen its rural outreach ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Sukhu’s decision to stay overnight at Bhatwari in Rohru and Kasha-Pat in Rampur brought the administration closer to some of the state’s remote settlements. He met residents, heard local grievances and issued directions to officials on roads, education, healthcare, transport and other basic needs.
The government dedicated 61 projects worth Rs.182.87 crore in Rohru and 28 projects worth Rs.232.93 crore in Rampur during the tour.
In Rohru, Sukhu announced Rs.2 crore for a new school building, upgraded Sandasu Community Health Centre to a civil hospital and announced a survey for an SDM office at Chirgaon. For apple growers, the procurement price under the Market Intervention Scheme was raised from Rs.12 to Rs.13 per kg, while Rs.36 crore was sanctioned for the Tikker-Jarol-Gahan road.
At Bhatwari, he announced grants for Mahila Mandals, funds for local road connectivity and assured that the Barshil Bridge would be made motorable.
In Rampur, Sukhu announced Rs.2 crore each for school buildings at Kasha-Pat and Racholi, said Taklech School would be brought under the CBSE system and announced efforts to start a bus service connecting Kasha-Pat with Rampur via Taklech.
His interactions with students also featured prominently, with education infrastructure, teacher availability and transport emerging as key local concerns.
At Nogli, the government distributed Rs.5.79 crore in financial assistance to 1,471 registered construction workers and their dependents under welfare schemes.
Sukhu also addressed Anti-Chitta rallies in Rohru and Rampur, reiterating the government’s campaign against drug abuse.
