Shimla: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today geared up the party cadre in Shimla rural to take on Congress MLA Vikramaditya Singh by citing example of Seraj, his home segment in Mandi district.
Addressing the Shimla rural Mandal workers, Jai Ram Thakur said before his entry into politics, the Siraj assembly constituency was a Congress dominated area, but with hard work he was able to strengthen the party's cadre in the assembly constituency and in the year 1998 he won the first election from the area. All the workers of Shimla Rural Assembly Constituency should work with this commitment to ensure the victory of the party candidate from this constituency, he said.
Thakur said every worker should work with coordinated efforts to live up to the expectations of leadership and should respect leaders. Himachal is fortunate that they have the affection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party at the national level is being led by Jagat Prakash Nadda, the son of soil, he added.
Chief Minister said the workers should plan two or three major programs in the constituency which they can participate in. Some major developmental issues should also be identified which can be completed at the earliest, he added.
Jai Ram Thakur said that since the government has entered the election year, it is necessary that all the party workers should work with renewed vigor and enthusiasm.
District Shimla BJP President Ravi Mehta thanked the Chief Minister for ensuring all round development of the state. Shimla Rural Assembly constituency has witnessed unprecedented development during the last four years, he claimed.
State Women Commission President and Shimla District BJP in-charge Daisy Thakur and prominent BJP leader of the area Pramod Sharma were also present on the occasion.
