Stop Blaming Delhi for Your Failures: JP Nadda Slams Himachal CM Sukhu Over Stalled Central Projects
KULLU: Launching a direct offensive against Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Union Minister JP Nadda on Sunday accused the Congress-led state government of stalling crucial infrastructure works and failing to spend thousands of crores sanctioned by the Centre.
Addressing a gathering of BJP workers and local representatives at Patlikuhal in Kullu district, Nadda asserted that the Sukhu government has become synonymous with "misgovernance, financial mismanagement, and administrative failure."
"Whenever Chief Minister Sukhu is questioned about development, he blames Delhi. The reality is that the problem is not a shortage of funds, but the state government’s sheer inability to execute projects," Nadda said, urging the Chief Minister to stop political buck-passing.
Slow Fund Utilisation Under Scanner
Nadda cited several flagship central projects to highlight the state's slow implementation pace:
* Health Infrastructure: Under the PM-ABHIM scheme, out of ₹360 crore sanctioned, only 1 of the planned 15 Critical Care Blocks has been completed. Just 1 of 12 Integrated Public Health Laboratories is ready, while none of the 73 Block Public Health Units are operational.
* Una Bulk Drug Park: Of the ₹1,000 crore committed by the Centre, ₹225 crore was disbursed as the first instalment, but the state has utilised barely ₹12 crore due to procedural and clearance bottlenecks.
* 15th Finance Commission Grants: Around ₹521 crore was allocated for state healthcare expansion, yet only 52% has been spent so far.
* Strategic Rail Links: Work on extending the Bhanupalli-Bilaspur-Beri railway line beyond Bilaspur is facing delays due to pending land acquisition and compensation clearances by the state administration.
Central Investments in Focus
Contrasting the state’s track record with the Modi government’s infrastructure push, Nadda highlighted the ₹1,400 crore AIIMS Bilaspur, the ₹200 crore super-speciality facility at Chamiyana, the ₹468 crore allocated for the restoration of the Kullu-Manali road corridor, and the ₹15,624 crore multi-state Kishau Hydropower Project finalized through cooperative federalism.
Buoyed by recent local body election gains—where the BJP secured majorities across Dharamshala and Mandi municipal bodies alongside 190 of 251 Zila Parishad seats—Nadda called upon cadre to gear up for the 2027 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections and hold the ruling Congress accountable on the ground.
The convention was attended by Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, former minister Govind Singh Thakur, local MLAs, and senior party functionaries.
