SHIMLA- Himachal Pradesh is gearing up for an extraordinary event as the state Vidhan Sabha is set to host its first-ever 'Children's Session' on June 12 here.
This unique session, organized by the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha as part of the Digital Bal Mela, will see the active participation of 68 child MLAs.
It would mark a significant step towards encouraging youth engagement in the state's legislative process.
To ensure a meaningful experience for the young participants, the Himachal Pradesh Assembly has formed a children's government through a special procedure.
The Assembly Speaker, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, played a crucial role in the "ministry" formation process.
In a heartwarming gesture, he gathered all the selected children in the assembly and posed for a photograph with the newly formed Child Cabinet, symbolizing their important role in the session.
The leadership positions within the children's government have been allocated to promising young individuals.
Laveesh Negi has been chosen as the Chairman, while Raghav Kalla will serve as the Vice President.
Jahanvi has been elected as CM, accompanied by Tushar Anand as the Deputy Chief Minister.
The responsibilities of the Leader of Opposition and Deputy Leader of Opposition will be held by Ruhanika Verma and Hari Om Gupta, respectively.
Out of the 68 child MLAs participating in the session, a total of 13 have been selected as Cabinet Ministers, including portfolios such as Home Affairs, Higher Education, Health, Industrial and Parliamentary Affairs, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Environment, Youth Affairs and Sports, Finance, and Urban Development.
Three Ministers of State have been appointed to handle areas like Social Justice and Welfare, Primary Education, and Road and Transport. The children's government also features four Parliamentary Secretaries responsible for domains such as Labour and Employment, Jal Shakti, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Women and Child Development, and Tourism.
As the preparations for the 'Children's Session' continue, Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania has taken the opportunity to acquaint the young MLAs with the legislative process and provide them with insights into the historical significance of the Vidhan Sabha building in Shimla.
He emphasized that respected leaders, including Vitthalbhai Patel, had previously held the esteemed Speaker's post in the Shimla Assembly, further enhancing its dignity.
The state's efforts to encourage youth participation and provide them with a platform to voice their opinions extend beyond the 'Children's Session.'
Rajasthan Education Minister Dr. B.D. Kalla, who visited Himachal Pradesh, took the opportunity to address the selected child MLAs. Dr. B.D. Kalla shared insights into the functioning of the Assembly and extended his best wishes to the children for the upcoming session.
