SHIMLA- In a BID to promote political awareness among the younger generation, the Himachal Pradesh Assembly is organizing a Children's Session in the Vidhan Sabha. The session aims to provide a platform for children's ideas in policy-making and increase their political participation.

In an interaction with media persons here today, HP Vidan Sabha Speaker Kuldip Singh Pathania said over 1108 children had registered to become child MLAs, out of which 68 were selected representing 68 constituencies of Himachal.

Among the participants, there are 40 girls and 28 boys, including children from different states.

The selected children will raise various topics during the Children's Session scheduled for June 12, addressing issues they feel passionate about and incorporating them into policy-making.

The initiative, known as the Digital Bal Mela, enables children to express their ideas through digital mediums, emphasizing the proper use of technology in their lives.

Over 25,000 children participated in the campaign by submitting videos and sharing their thoughts through the website and mobile platform, Pathania said.

The Children's Session provides equal opportunities for children from diverse backgrounds, including those from government, private, and school education systems.

It aims to ensure that children's voices are heard and valued. Through interactions with MPs, ministers, MLAs, and other influential figures, the young participants gain insights into the legislative process and make their opinions known.

The Children's Session in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly is a commendable step towards empowering children and fostering their involvement in shaping policies that affect them.

This initiative follows the successful children's session organized in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in 2021, emphasizing the importance of children's participation in governance.

As the Children's Session progresses, Himachal Pradesh would set an example for other regions in promoting children's political awareness and recognizing their role in decision-making processes, Pathania said.
