Bilaspur: At a public rally in Bilaspur, BJP National President J.P. Nadda tore into the Congress-led Sukhu government, calling it corrupt and incompetent and a disaster and toilet tax government.
He questioned the misuse of funds, saying, "Money comes in, but no one knows where it goes."
Nadda labeled the Sukhu administration a "disaster government" and criticized the imposition of taxes on basic amenities.
"They've even taxed toilets! This government has no right to stay in power. The people are suffering."
He accused the state government of relying solely on central funds.
"Every month, the center sends Rs 500 crore in grants and Rs 800 crore in additional aid. Without this, they can't even pay salaries or pensions."
Nadda slammed Chief Minister Sukhu for speaking "with two tongues," saying, "He tells voters the center gives nothing, but in Delhi, he thanks the central government and asks for more."
Taking a swipe, Nadda said, "This will be remembered as the ‘toilet tax government.’"
BJP leader Anurag Thakur added, "They’ve taxed everything but air."
Nadda highlighted the BJP’s contributions to the state, from AIIMS in Bilaspur to new medical colleges and highways. "PM Modi has worked tirelessly for Himachal’s growth."
He claimed Congress only brings corruption and division. "Wherever Congress rules, corruption and anti-national elements thrive. Himachal is no different."
Nadda praised India’s economic rise under the Modi government. "We’ve become the 5th largest economy and will soon be 3rd."
He urged voters to back the BJP in the upcoming elections. "With BJP, your future is secure. Development will continue with the lotus."
Anurag Thakur and Jairam Thakur Join the Attack
Anurag Thakur credited Nadda for improving healthcare in Himachal. "Thanks to him, we now have six medical colleges, and our youth are getting jobs in AIIMS."
Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur criticized Congress for failing on its promises. "Not a single woman has received the promised Rs 1500. Congress's 'guarantees' were all lies."
Nadda’s message was clear: the BJP has focused on Himachal’s development, while the Congress government is driving the state into crisis.
CM SUKHU Responds :
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu dismissed the "toilet tax" rumors in Himachal Pradesh as baseless, stating no such proposal exists. He criticized the BJP for spreading false claims for political gain ahead of the Haryana elections.
Sukhu accused the BJP of misusing religion for electoral advantage and pointed out their failed populist measures, like Rs 5,000 crore in freebies, including free water, before the 2022 elections.
Despite this, the people backed Congress, forming a stable government.
He clarified that the current government rationalized water subsidies, setting a flat Rs 100 bill for rural households, and stressed that financially capable families can pay their fair share.
