Shimla: BJP Slams Owaisi for 'Interference' in Mosque Controversy, Calls Him 'Self-Proclaimed Muslim Leader
Tensions are running high in Shimla’s Sanjauli over the controversial mosque construction, with the BJP upping its ante against AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi.
BJP leader and spokesperson Chetan Bragta, son of former minister Narender Singh Bragta, today launched a scathing attack on Owaisi, accusing him of meddling in Himachal's affairs.
*“Owaisi has no business commenting on Himachal’s issues,” Bragta snapped during a heated debate in the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday.
"Why do you always think that only BJP leaders speak the truth?” he questioned, challenging Owaisi's authority and influence. “It would be better for you to stay away from Devbhoomi Himachal.”
Bragta, who heads the BJP’s IT and social media cell in Himachal, made it clear that Owaisi’s remarks wouldn’t be tolerated, calling him a *“self-proclaimed leader of the Muslims.”
This comes after Owaisi’s recent comments on the mosque issue ignited backlash in the BJP-ruled state.
Bragta, still fresh from his defeat in the 2022 Assembly elections from Jubbal-Kotkhai constituency, took the opportunity to reinforce his party's stand against what they perceive as Owaisi's unnecessary intrusion into the state’s matters.
The BJP’s offensive against Owaisi signals a growing political confrontation, with the party determined to keep Himachal’s affairs free from external influence.
