SUNDARNAGAR/SOLAN: Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress of not fulfilling the promises the party had made in 2012 Election Manifesto during its Virbhadra Singh rule from 2012-2017”.
“This time HP election is special. The voters on November 12 will decide Himachal's Vikas Yatra for the next 25 years. Himachal has completed 75 years and when India will celebrate 100 years, Himachal will also celebrate 100 years”, he said.
“Youth and women understand that BJP means stability, equilibrium, political stability, BJP means top priority for development and people have decided to the vote back the BJP government”, he asserted.
He said Congress always treated Himachal as a tiny insignificant state.
“Because of this mind-set, Congress never gave Himachal its due attention and as a result Himachal lagged behind”, Modi charged.
But the BJP government, in between under PK Dhumal and Atal Ji at Centre paced up development, he said.
Addressing his two election’s Vijay Sankalp rallies at Sundernagar and Solan Modi expressed his gratitude to the people for tremendous affection at the rallies.
Prime Minister was accompanied by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and other BJP candidates to present a united assault against the Congress in Mandi and Solan, giving a new "Modi-push" to the campaign among the voters.
In Fact, Sundernagar, Mandi Sadar, Jogindernagar, Kullu Sadar, Banjar figure among 21 constituencies out of 68 where BJP is facing rebels denting the votebank of its official candidates.
There is also a video doing rounds on social media in which Kripal Parmar contesting as a BJP rebel from Fatehpur is featured talking to what Parmer is addressing as "Modi ji" that reveals a magnitude that the game of power has assumed in Kangra and other places.
PM's rally is being viewed as a last-ditch attempt to improve the winning prospects of its candidates.
In Sundarnagar itself, BJP candidate Rakesh Jamwal is not only facing formidable Congress candidate Sohan Lal Thakur, but he also is facing rebellion from Abhishak Thakur, son of Rup Singh Thakur, a former forest minister of the BJP government of Shanta Kumar.
Modi gave examples how Congress did not fulfill its poll promises including the slogans of Garibi Hatao as these were made just to grab power by hoodwinking the people of the country for over the years.
On the other hand, people of Himachal Pradesh are appreciating BJP ‘s good work of the double engine government and they feel BJP for Himachal is the best party which fulfills their aspirations, Modi said.
From 2014-2017, the Congress made just 15 houses under PM Awas Yojna in Himachal. “We gave funds to then Congress government, but they did not work”, he claimed, citing examples to pin Congress.
In contrast, when the Jai Ram Thakur government took over the work on 10,000 houses was started, Modi said. "Out of this, 8000 houses are complete, and rest is being completed", he added.
“Now you decide which party the people should support and vote”, Modi asked and posed questions to the public in Sundernagar.
Talking about Solan, Narendra Modi said coming to solan is very special. “It brings back many pleasant memories of my previous visits and the countless interaction with our karyakartas”.
“Today’s rally in Solan is outstanding, indicating the strong support for BJP in Himachal among all sections of society”, Modi said.
Prime Minister said the Congress doesn’t want that the country becomes Atam-Nirbhar in defence equipment. Congress used to get commission while importing defence equipment", he charged and appealed to ex-soldiers and the soldiers of the Virbhoomi to uncover the Congress.
“But in today’s India. Atam-Nirbharta has got impetus by making defence equipment in the country”, Modi said.
Referring to the Congress Manifesto and 10 Guaranttees, Prime Minister said the Congress always made false guarantees.
“What to talk about removal of poverty or implementing One Rank, One Pension, Congress never fulfilled any promises”, Modi claimed.
BJP on the other hand, promised of one rank, one pension which was fulfilled that showed its commitment and how double engine government works, Modi said
He said the next 25 years are very crucial for the country. In this Amrutkal, Himachal needs a strong pace of development which is possible only when there is a stable government and double engine government in Himachal, assuring the rally crowd that he is there to take Himachal on the fast lane.
“I’m happy to know that the youth and women and all section of all people, understanding this aspect very well”, Modi claimed.
He recalled that he had to visit Mandi earlier, but he could not do it due to bad weather and had to address them virtually from Delhi.
He remember local BJP leaders, late Ganga Ram, Damodar Das, Dile Ram including Ashish Chaudhary, a boxer of Tokyo Olympic fame to strike his chord with locals.
After the death of his father Ashish created niche for himself as he never gave up, he said. He had met Asshish earlier, Modi added.
Prime Minister also mourned the death of Shayan Saran Negi, a 106 year old, India’s first voter who died in Kinnaur today.
He said Negi had cast his vote for 30 times. "He also casted his postal ballot vote and he kept his promise, setting an inspiration for young people to come out in large number to exercise their franchise", Modi said.
Modi said BJP had made promises to scrap article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, build Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, to implement, one rank, one pension.
“We gave Rs 60,000 Crore in the fauji families, something on which Congress had always misled the people for long 40 years”.
Prime Minister lined up the BJP candidates from Mandi and Kullu at Sundarnagar and others from Solan, Sirmaur at Solan and presented them before the public seeking votes for them.
Meanwhile, Modi later visited Radha swami Satsang Beas, which has a following in the state and had an interaction with Baba Gurinder Singh Dillon. His passion for service is admirable and inspiring, he twitted.
