Shimla/Imphal: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led the launch of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from the strife-ridden state of Manipur, making a strong statement against the alleged neglect of the region by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-RSS alliance.
During the rally, Gandhi questioned the prolonged silence of the Prime Minister amid the eight-month-long violence in Manipur, emphasizing the absence of engagement with MPs, Chief Minister, political parties, and MLAs.
Accompanied by National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and other prominent leaders, Rahul Gandhi paid tribute at the Khongjom War Memorial, home to the world's tallest sword statue symbolizing Manipur's historic struggle against the British Army in 1891.
The launch ceremony included the presentation of the national flag to Rahul Gandhi by Kharge, marking the beginning of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, a 6700-kilometer journey from Manipur to Mumbai.
The initiative aims to express solidarity with the people of Manipur, seeking justice for their grievances.
The Congress party, along with leaders from across the country, pledges support against perceived injustices in Manipur.
