Shimla (Theog/Matiana), April 4:
A case of road rage involving two tourists created panic in Matiana market on Friday evening after a local man was allegedly hit by a speeding Audi car, with the occupants reportedly threatening people using what appeared to be a pistol.
According to police, the incident occurred around 5:50 PM when an Audi car bearing registration number DL 10CZ 7071, carrying two tourists, got into a विवाद following a case of dangerous overtaking in the busy Matiana.
The situation quickly escalated, and during the altercation, the driver allegedly hit a local resident.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the occupants of the vehicle tried to intimidate locals by flashing a pistol-like object. As tensions flared and locals began gathering at the spot, the accused fled the scene.
Acting swiftly on the information, police from Theog Police Station set up a naka at Premghat Chowk and intercepted the vehicle along with its occupants.
The accused have been identified as:
Ujjwal Jain (36), resident of Punjabi Bagh, Saharanpur
Sohil Arora (36), resident of Vasant Vihar, Delhi Road, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh
During the search, the police recovered the suspected weapon, which upon inspection turned out to be a Chinese-made lighter resembling a pistol.
Police have initiated legal proceedings and an FIR is being registered against the accused. Further investigation is underway.
