Shimla reels under heavy rains, 40 evacuated as landslides hit city
Shimla: Relentless rains triggered fresh landslides in the city on Sunday night, forcing police to evacuate around 40 residents from the Benmore area as a precautionary measure.
Massive slides were reported near Ramchandra Chowk, while traffic had to be diverted through alternative routes.
Reports said parts of roofing sheets were damaged and a tree came crashing down near Ashiyana Regency. Luckily, there was no human loss, officials confirmed.
The VRO (Chhota Shimla) reported the situation early Monday morning, adding that evacuation was carried out late night to avoid any tragedy.
