Kinnaur-Kailash Yatra

Kinner-Kailash Yatra Closed Amid Shooting stones,  Landslide, Flash Flood Threat...

RECONG PEO: The Kinner-Kailash Yatra 2025 has been suspended with immediate effect after the district administration flagged rising dangers on the pilgrimage route.

Deputy Commissioner Kinnaur, Amit Kumar Sharma, issued the order on Tuesday under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, directing that all pilgrims attempting to proceed further will be escorted back by teams of Home Guards, Disaster Management personnel and district police to ensure their safe return to the base camp.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kalpa, Amit Kalthaik, had proposed halting the yatra in view of the shooting stones, foggy conditions and heavy rains making the trek extremely unsafe.

The order further stated that the SDM will coordinate with panchayats, police and other stakeholders to enforce the suspension and prevent any mishap.

Officials confirmed that few  casualties have already been reported on the route this season due to surging streams and shooting stones and landslides.

With continuous rainfall lashing Kinnaur and the rest of Himachal Pradesh, the administration said the move was necessary to save precious lives.

“The safety of pilgrims is paramount. In the current situation, the Kinner-Kailash Yatra stands suspended till further orders,” DC Sharma said.
