Angry Locals, HPCL Employees Protest Over Death of Chief Engineer VimalNegi, Demand Suspension of Meena and Des Raj
Negi’s body kept before HPPCL Headquarters for last homage. The dead body will not be lifted till the government takes action in the case.

The Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPCL) headquarters in Shimla turned into a protest site today as the body of ill-fated Chief Engineer Vimal Negi was brought for a final tribute. Grieving family members, employees, and a large number of locals—mainly from Kinnaur—staged a massive protest, raising slogans against HPCL Managing Director Harikesh Meena and Director Des Raj.
They saud it was a murder not suicide. The angry citizens were on sitin.
They were angry as police has not lodged FIR at the behest of Chief Secretary.
The crowd accused top officials of harassing Negi’s , leading to his tragic death. Angry protesters demanded immediate suspension of both Meena and Des Raj, holding them responsible. “Vimal Negi Amar Rahe,” echoed through the premises, as protestors vowed not to budge until strict action was taken.
The situation turned tense with locals and employees locking the main gate. The body was accompanied by Negi’s brothers, Surender Negi, MLA and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi, BJP leader Surat Negi, Rakesh Kanwar principle secretary to CM.
