SHIMLA/KULLU/NAHAN, JULY 9:
Another day, another bomb scare — and yet again, justice derailed. District courts in Kullu and Nahan were brought to a grinding halt on Wednesday after hoax bomb threats landed in their official emails, triggering panic and full-scale evacuations.
And just like clockwork, the Himachal Pradesh Police were left scratching their heads — still clueless about the source of these repeated threats that are fast becoming a cruel pattern.
All court proceedings were suspended. Advocates walked out. Bomb squads and dog units took charge of the premises.
But in the midst of this high drama, it’s the poor litigants who walked home defeated — many having travelled miles, paying legal fees, only to be handed yet another distant hearing date.
Months, maybe years away. For them, justice delayed isn't just justice denied — it's a living hell.
This isn’t the first such scare. In May, the Kullu DC office received a similar threat, allegedly from a terror outfit. The High Court too has been a frequent target of such email threats. Yet, HP Police seem to be on mute mode — unable to trace the source, book the culprits, or even issue a convincing statement.
“Today, even the Additional District Court and District Court Nahan received email threats. Everyone had to evacuate. The entire day’s work went to waste,” said Amit Attri, former president of the Bar Association, Nahan told media.
Kullu’s District and Sessions Court faced the same chaos. Mail arrives. Panic spreads. Premises evacuated. Bomb disposal squad arrives. And then — silence.
No blast, no suspect, no leads. Just another blank page in the HP Police’s case diary.
Police official said the investigation is on.
But what happened in the bomb hoax at HP High Court Shimla where the premises were vacated twice this year. HP Police has no answers.
But that’s cold comfort for the hundreds of litigants whose cases continue to be stuck in the quicksand of adjournments and procedural delays — now further complicated by faceless threats.
These bomb hoaxes aren’t just a law-and-order challenge. They're a direct attack on the justice system — stalling proceedings, draining public money, and breaking the spirit of common citizens fighting for their rights in the courts.
Until the HP Police wake up and crack the source of these mails, the message is clear: courts may stand tall, but justice remains hostage to chaos, cowardice, and criminal mockery.
How many more hoaxes before heads roll? And when will the police stop being spectators and start being investigators?
