HP High Court Mourns Former Chief Justice V.K. Gupta
Shimla, March 5, 2025 – The Himachal Pradesh High Court today paid tribute to former Chief Justice V.K. Gupta, who passed away on February 15 at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi.
Justice Gupta, born in 1947, had a distinguished legal career, serving as the first Chief Justice of Jharkhand before leading the Himachal High Court from 2003 to 2008.
He was credited with modernizing the state's judiciary, spearheading infrastructure expansion, and introducing computerization.
Chief Justice G.S. Sandhawalia praised his landmark judgments and unwavering commitment to justice.
Judges, senior advocates, and court officials observed a two-minute silence in his honor.
