Mediation Drive Helps 307 Parties Settle Cases Amicably in Himachal
Shimla:
Mediation has once again proved to be a golden bridge between warring parties, offering them a chance to end disputes amicably instead of perishing in long, costly court battles.
As part of the “Mediation for the Nation” campaign launched by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court, a 90-day state-wide drive was held from July 1 to September 30, 2025.
In Himachal Pradesh, the campaign was conducted under the patronage of Chief Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, and the guidance of Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Executive Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (HPSLSA).
During the campaign, 2,936 pending cases — including matrimonial disputes, cheque bounce cases, domestic violence matters, commercial and consumer disputes, and land cases — were identified and referred for mediation. Of these, 307 cases were successfully settled across the state.
Member Secretary Ranjeet Singh said the campaign reaffirmed that mediation is not just a method of dispute resolution but also a way to preserve relationships, foster harmony, and ensure timely justice.
The HPSLSA thanked the digital, print and electronic media for their role in spreading legal awareness and pledged to continue popularizing mediation as a reliable, accessible, and cost-effective mode of justice delivery.
