SHIMLA: The much-awaited Himachal-linked film ‘Khoonta’ is gearing up for its mega launch, with its starcast and team ready to take the film to audiences after a journey marked by international recognition, awards and growing public buzz.
Shot against the spectacular landscapes of Himachal Pradesh, Khoonta combines a compelling story with a strong message on nature and environmental protection. Its trailer has already generated considerable buzz, particularly across Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
For actor Karrtik Rao, the film marks his major lead debut after years of auditions, struggle and financial uncertainty in Mumbai.
He says the opportunity is especially meaningful because his first lead role is attached to a subject he strongly believes in—protecting nature.
The film has also built an impressive international profile, including a Cannes premiere, London Film Festival recognition, a New York premiere and a Times Square poster launch.
It has additionally won the Best Foreign Feature Film Award at the London Film Festival and the Best Feature Film Award at the Indian Movie Awards.
Karrtik credits producer Mukesh Modi and director and co-actor Anushi Sharma for believing in him and creating a supportive environment during the making of the film.
The actor says his association with Khoonta has also changed his personal outlook towards nature. Inspired by veteran actor Jackie Shroff’s environmental advocacy, he has started gifting plants to friends on their birthdays as a small step towards spreading environmental awareness.
