HP High Court Reserves Order on Meena’s Bail Plea in Vimal Negi Death Case
SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Tuesday reserved its judgment on the bail application of Meena, arrested in connection with the mysterious death of HPPCL Chief Engineer Vimal Negi, a case now being probed by the CBI.
During the hearing, the Central Bureau of Investigation strongly opposed the bail plea and pressed for Meena’s custody, arguing that further interrogation was essential for advancing the investigation.
The agency maintained that granting bail at this stage could “hamper the probe,” especially with several leads still under verification.
After hearing both sides at length, the court reserved its order, which is likely to be pronounced soon.
Negi’s mysterious death had triggered public concern, leading to the transfer of the case to the CBI following allegations of foul play by the family.
